major 2:

guiding question:

Expensive jewelry communicates the image of wealth and power, but what are the origins of the decadent minerals we use to accessorize? I want to use luxury jewelry products in a background of metal and rocks to bring the highly sought after products back to their root. By showing expensive jewelry in dirt and rocks or rusting metal, high fashion as a whole can be brought back to its roots and stripped of its value.

reflection:

- my goal was to contrast the metal used to make luxury jewelry and scrap metal with little contextual value, questioning how they are seen as different but truly are one in the same. i used the shine of jewelry to contrast the matte of scrap metal to visualize this relationship

- materials used: luxury jewelry (bracelets, necklaces, chains, etc.), rusty scrap metal and rock, canon rebel, lightroom

- photos taken at the fabrication yard, in both warehouses and outside
